Background: I was born and raised in India, and I graduated in 2023 with a B.Tech in Biotechnology from PES University with a specialization in Computational Biology. My undergraduate capstone project focused on drug discovery for antimicrobial-resistant skin infections, during which I became interested in understanding disease mechanisms. My internship experiences shaped my interest in cancer biology. I had the opportunity to work at labs in the Indian Institute of Science and Indian Institute of Technology, where I delved into genomics and cancer immunology. In the future, I aspire to be a scientist in the field and contribute to scientific advancements that translate into clinical impact.
Research Interests/Projects: In the lab, I hope to understand the complex interplay of proteins involved in colorectal cancer, with an emphasis on the interactions involving SOX9. I am keen to explore this computationally using protein modeling, simulations and evolutionary biology approaches. Uncovering these molecular mechanisms can ultimately contribute to drug discovery efforts. Fun Facts and Interests: I enjoy singing, playing the guitar and going on long walks. During my time at university, I had the opportunity to be part of the A'capella group. I am deeply passionate about giving back to my community through volunteering. As a UN Millennium Fellow, I contributed to our initiative to increase awareness on health and sustainability among school students. |
