Clare Xin Morris
Undergraduate Student (2021 -) Harvard College '24 |
Background: I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, and I am an undergraduate at Harvard College. While I entered Harvard intending to concentrate in computer science, I’ve since become much more interested in applying technology to the biomedical field, and I’m looking to pursue a concentration in the life sciences with a secondary in a quantitative field as part of the class of 2024. I began work in the Sethi Lab in early 2021, and I look forward to continued growth as part of the lab. My long-term aspiration is to attend medical school and become a doctor, and I’m currently exploring specialties within the field.
Research Interests/Projects: I am currently working with Nilay to investigate the molecular basis of colon cancer initiation through analysis of “aberrant” stem cell-like clusters, which appear during the formation of adenomas from normal intestinal stem cells. I am responsible for analyzing single cell RNA-seq data to define the unique expression factors of such clusters, and I am looking forward to seeing the results of this project. Fun Facts and Interests: I really love to go on long hikes and runs, and I hope to run the Boston marathon one day. Outside of academics at Harvard, I play the French horn and am a board member of the Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra. I also work as a campus peer counselor and am a member of Harvard Open Data Project, a data journalism club. Contact: cxmorris@college.harvard.edu |
