Brandon Huffman, M.D.
Clinical Fellow (2021 - ) B.S. Biochemistry, University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri M.D., University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri Internal Medicine, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota |
Background: I am a midwestern transplant to the northeast. I grew up in Missouri where I received my B.S. in biochemistry from the University of Missouri and M.D. from the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, Missouri. I spent an extra year between second and third year of medical school studying pathology as a post-sophomore fellow at the University of Missouri. After graduation from medical school, I completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota where I spent an additional year as a chief medical resident. Currently, I am an Oncology fellow at Dana Farber Cancer Institute/Mass General Brigham where I am developing a focus in treating patients with gastrointestinal malignancy.
Research Interests: I am interested in an academic career in clinical investigation, particularly experimental therapeutics and clinical trial development. My primary mentor will be James Cleary and I will be co-mentored by Nilay. In the Sethi Lab, I hope to identify patients with gastrointestinal cancers who are susceptible to replication stress and to harness that susceptibility to improve cancer outcomes. I am especially excited to partner with this lab to translate basic science discoveries into the clinic, understand clinically-relevant biomarkers, and establish correlative studies for future clinical trials. Beyond Lab: I am married to my college sweetheart, and we have an elementary-aged son. I like to spend most of my time outside of work with my family at local parks, sports venues, and museums. I enjoy traveling and exploring the community around me especially learning about its history. As a motivation to stay healthy, I also enjoy the occasional half marathon, even though I’m a novice runner. |
